The Day When We Shall Praise the Scientists

By Niraj Bidawatka

The scientists are never inclined to listen to the glories of God because they think that God does not exist. The Bhagavatam compares such men to animals in the garb of humans. Those persons, who praise such animal-like-men, are in turn compared to dogs, hogs, camels and asses.

Thus, those who praise the scientists are no better than the dogs, hogs, camels and asses. Since we do not want fall into the category of hogs and asses, there is no possibility of our praising the agnostic scientists.

However, the day when the scientists become amiable to the existence of God, we shall be very glad to praise them. We believe in praising Krishna and His devotees. In fact we worship the pure devotees of the Supreme Lord. If the scientists accept the factual existence of God and become His pure devotees, we would be very glad to worship them, not to mention praising them.

  1. We are not impressed or enamoured by the worldly stature of a particular personality or personalities. Most of the times, we see that people praise a person because everyone else is doing so. This is called the herd mentality. One thinks, “I don’t want to be left out; Let me also praise the scientists because everyone else is.” But we don’t follow the herd mentality; we strictly follow the scriptures and are impressed by the devotees only because they provide concrete solutions to the real problems of life. Whereas, the scientists provide temporary solutions to minor problems of life and in the process of solving one problem, they create a host of other problems. For example, the automobile makes travelling easy but creates a host of other problems such as noise and environmental pollution, depletion of fossil fuels, respiratory problems, fatal accidents, traffic congestion, etc.

If one wants to increase ones stature in the eyes of the common man, he has to present himself as an atheist because the populace doesn’t like to appreciate or praise the devotees of the Lord. The reason is that the population consists of people who are like dogs, hogs, asses and camels. They are simply interested in eating and sleeping.

Neither do we want to follow the herd mentality nor do we want to create a reputation amongst the dogs and asses, and hence there is no compulsion on us to praise the atheists such as the scientists and politicians.

  2. Mr. Bidawatka,

    Great article & realisation!

I am sure like other human beings scientists can also be divided into atheists & devotees as is common in all walks of life.

I request you to not to point fingers at a particular profession or a community, rather speak the universal truth in a general manner. One should be humble in his/her approach rather than aggressive to make the article more hard hitting.

    Keep up the good work!
